Discovering the Holmewood Ecosystem

5SM and 5TM have been exploring the Holmewood House ecosystem and completing a scavenger hunt around the site. They have been finding natural and manmade things that make up the school ecosystem! They will be comparing our ecosystem to the rainforest ecosystem. Katie Seecharan

Bushcraft Day

Year 5s enjoyed a thoroughly successful day, deep in the woods in Penshurst, learning bushcraft skills. The children have enjoyed learning about lighting fires and cooking on them in a survival situation. They have learnt about the fire triangle, different sizes of wood to put on the fire, in order to create a good heat source. A delicious lunch was served in the open air in the beautiful surroundings of the pituresque woods. Children also learnt to build shelters – another vital part of survival in a wilderness environment. Children have learnt new skills which i’m sure will serve them well in the future including on the Year 6 three day residential bushcraft experience. More photos to follow next week.  PMJ
