Bushcraft Day
Year 5s enjoyed a thoroughly successful day, deep in the woods in Penshurst, learning bushcraft skills. The children have enjoyed learning about lighting fires and cooking on them in a survival situation. They have learnt about the fire triangle, different sizes of wood to put on the fire, in order to create a good heat source. A delicious lunch was served in the open air in the beautiful surroundings of the pituresque woods. Children also learnt to build shelters – another vital part of survival in a wilderness environment. Children have learnt new skills which i’m sure will serve them well in the future including on the Year 6 three day residential bushcraft experience. More photos to follow next week. PMJ
