Art – Abstract Friezes

Using acrylic pens and inks the Year 4s have been finishing off their designs on their ceramic Abstract Friezes. These colourful sculptures are designed to be hung on a wall. Tom Johnson / Keith Siddle

In English this week, Year 4 have been looking at poetry.  They have learnt about the different types of poems and their  features.  To end the week, they chose their favourite poem to perform to the class.

Today in their Music lesson, 4G have been busy developing their rhythmic skills by learning the famous Cup Song! With great enthusiasm and focus, they finely tuned their claps, taps, and cup movements showing some great coordination. 

Yes, it’s official. After 37 years at Holmewood, Mrs Porritt, Director of Sport, is retiring.



And what a great way to spend her penultimate week - overseeing the annual girls’ football tournament that she started four years ago. Along with her follow coaches at Rose Hill and Somerhill, Mrs Porritt wanted to give every girl from Years 3-6 the chance to play in an end of season tournament. This year approximately 900 girls from local prep schools played over the two days at the three venues which is incredible.



It was wonderful to see all the girls playing some great football on some perfect Holmewood pitches. Many thanks to the staff from the other hosting schools, to the visiting schools, and to the amazing Mrs Porritt and the team at Holmewood for such a hugely successful couple of days.
