Year 7

DT & Engineering

Here are Year 7 completing a circuit or their battery powered car model projects. You can see the children testing their hand-made push switches using card and tin foil, that makes the circuit connecting a 9V battery to a DC motor. The motor will eventually be connected to a belt and pulley system that will turn the wheels of their car. James Murray

French

Year 7 have been practising the past tense by writing a postcard about a trip to Paris. Madame Simpson

Pi Day

In the run up to Pi Day (13/4), some Year 7 and 8 pupils have been experimenting with probability and Buffon’s Needle experiment. This involved drawing parallel lines 2 matchstick lengths apart and throwing a lot of matchsticks to see where they land. By dividing the total number of sticks thrown (as a class) by the number that crossed the line, a value wonderfully appeared that approached Pi (3.14). Alison Tripp

English

Year 7 pupils have been busy preparing and delivering presentations on their favourite books or books they are currently reading. A wonderful variety of literature was showcased, ranging from classics like David Copperfield by Charles Dickens and Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie to My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell and more modern works such as Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. Pupils shared their thoughts on plot, character, setting, and genre in their thoughtful and well-prepared presentations —well done, Year 7! Alexandra Price

Spanish

Languages are not just about grammar and vocabulary; our y6 and 7 beginners have looked into the history of Spain and the Spanish Royal family. Madame BassGualbert
