There was plenty to celebrate in our Year 3 and 4 assembly today. Starting with lots of star and smiley faces badges being awarded for some fantastic house point totals. This was followed by a presentation of pen licences to some Year 4s and a few subject commendations for great work in Maths, Forest School and French. A great way to start a sunny Friday!
In Enrichment this week, the rainforest group created origami birds. The children showed great resilience and perseverance following complicated instructions. Rachael Cowell

Our Nursery is now open 46 weeks a year!
Yesterday, the children kicked off the week by celebrating the festival of Diwali. They crafted their own paper plate diya lamps, explored a colourful splash sensory tray, and created dazzling fork-splatter fireworks.

On the 27th of September we had the pleasure of welcoming back Old Holmewoodians, who attended the school in the 1960s, and former staff, Sandy Helm and Barbara Simpson.
The event was organised in part by Old Holmewoodian Haydn Keenan, who is currently producing a film about Holmewood in the 1960s. The film highlights the multicultural nature of the school and the formative impact it has. Testimonials shown here reveal the same.
The evening consisted of a tour of the school and a wonderful gala dinner interspersed with speeches, singing and even a Shakespeare performance. Our Orangery and screens were filled with film footage, photographs and newspaper clippings documenting the years the alumni had spent at the school.
It was a truly wonderful evening which embodied everything that has made Holmewood so special across its 80 years – the life-long friendships, the community and the opportunities.
A huge thank you to those who attended, those who helped put on the event and a special thank you to Haydn for organising and inviting everyone - we cannot wait to watch the finished film.
