What a special evening!
As part of our 80th Anniversary celebrations, we were delighted to welcome former England cricketer and Old Holmewoodian Tony Pigott back to his prep school for a truly memorable talk with pupils, parents, alumni and former staff.
Holmewoodians from the 1970s right through to the present day came together (including some wonderful inter-generational families!) to reconnect and hear Tony reflect on his time boarding at Holmewood House, where he first learned to "train hard, give 100% every day, stay positive and aim high".
From playing cricket here as a young boarder, to Harrow, three Harrow v Eton matches at Lord’s, and representing England internationally, Tony’s story was inspiring, honest and full of warmth. There were brilliant questions from our boarders and sports scholars, plenty of laughter (including a nod to Lord’s having the best catering!), and a chance to browse the archives and see photos from his school days.
After signing copies of his book, Lester and the Deckchair Revolution, Tony and his fiancée enjoyed a tour of our beautifully refurbished boarding houses – and left full of “very special memories” of a school that clearly still means a great deal to him.
Evenings like this remind us what Holmewood is all about: lasting connections, shared values and a community that spans generations. Can you spot Tony and his teammate, Andrew Jenner, then and now?
More alumni events are coming soon – and bookings are now open via our brand-new Old Holmewoodians alumni website (link in bio). We can’t wait to welcome many more of you back!
