Alumni News:

How lovely it has been to be in contact with Jim Cuthbert this week. He attended Holmewood House between 1955 -1959  and was in Cedar House and was senior swimming champion in 1959.  His brother also attended Holmewood House 1955-1958 and won the senior Victor Ludorum in 1958.  He had a son called Winston who also came to Holmewood House.  He was delighted to hear that Sandy Helm was still alive and he remembered the occasion when he married Paddy Cullen, who was the art mistress and she gave Jim his first ever red star! I sent Jim a photo of the honours board in the boarding house, which he loved seeing, with both his name and his brother’s name on, as both were awarded scholarships to Rossall School.  He did mention the sad passing of his great friend at Holmewood House, who was a Ghanaian boy called Afadi Lamptey. He had a brother called Jake. Jake went back to Ghana and eventually became Minister of Tourism, whereas Afadi stayed in the UK and married an English girl.  He reminded us that Bill Akufo-Addo, who was Head boy, when Jim was at Holmewood House, is now, of course, the President of Ghana.  Annabelle, old Holmewoodian and Dougal’s daughter is married and living in New York. I remember teaching her! So wonderful to catch up on all Cuthbert family news. Paul Morgan-Jones

Help at Home, Babysitting and General Childcare

My name is Agnes Ringer. I’m a former student of Holmewood House School, currently on my gap year and looking for part-time work between September and November. I joined Holmewood in Reception and thrived during my time there, staying up until year 8 before moving on to Hurstpierpoint College in West Sussex.

I have a strong passion for working with children and frequently look after family friends’ children, as well as my younger cousins. Additionally, I gained valuable experience at Hurst supporting younger year groups in my roles as both a house prefect and a school prefect. I would be more than happy to help parents out from doing school picks up to babysitting in the evenings.

Although I live slightly outside of Tunbridge Wells, near Wadhurst, I am able to drive and would be happy to work in and around this area. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.
