Holmewood House prep school in Tunbridge Wells is very much a family school where the positive relationships between the teachers and pupils allows us to get to know and understand the individual needs of each and every child.

Holmewood House is a co-educational, non-selective school for boys and girls aged 3-13 years, situated in 30 acres of glorious grounds in Tunbridge Wells.

During his time at Holmewood, Edward fully embraced our broad and enriching curriculum, consistently demonstrating dedication, curiosity and a commitment to achieving the highest standards. As part of the rigorous scholarship process at Sevenoaks School, Edward sat examinations in Science, Humanities (History and Geography), Languages (Linguistics and his chosen modern language, Mandarin), and a General Paper designed to assess critical thinking skills. He also delivered a presentation on a topic of his choice. We are delighted that Edward had the opportunity to showcase his many talents and achievements throughout this challenging process. Last week, pupils across the school spent the morning ‘moving up’ into their new year groups.
Our new Year 8 pupils were paired with their buddies joining Year 3, a highlight for both year groups and the start of some beautiful friendships.
At Holmewood, we go the extra mile to make the transition into new year groups feel seamless. Year 2 have already enjoyed several sessions up at the prep school, getting used to their new environment, and all parents are warmly invited to a Welcome Information Evening for their new year group. Moving Up Day gives every child, including our new pupils, the chance to meet their new teachers, explore their new classrooms, and discover all the exciting opportunities coming their way.
And as for next term.....we hope the Christmas door competition lives up to someone’s expectations!

Bella`s Football Triumph! Bella in Year 8 recently `played up` for the U15 West Kent squad to represent the South East of England at the 2026 Barcelona Football Fiesta! Not only that, but she went on to score the winning penalty to secure the lead and lift the trophy! The tournament brought together some of the best young footballers from across Europe, giving players an incredible opportunity to compete at an elite level. West Kent said "from start to finish, the team showed passion, determination and togetherness". Huge well done to all the girls, and to Bella! The Swim School holds classes for children of all abilities and is open to Holmewood pupils as well as the wider community and takes places after the Holmewood school day has finished and on a Saturday morning.
Holmewood House School has been running holiday courses since 1998. We aim to offer a wide variety of courses for children aged 5-12 in a secure and relaxed environment.

The chaperone service that Holmewood House offers has meant that our son has been able to access the best of both worlds, a country boarding school during the week where he can enjoy the space and facilities which are very hard to come by in London and then is able to come home every Friday to enjoy a full weekend with family. It is extremely convenient to be able to pick him up & drop off from central London & is workable on top of the other commitments I have! He looks forward to his trips on the train where he gets any unfinished homework done and then is able to relax at home
