Holmewood House prep school in Tunbridge Wells is very much a family school where the positive relationships between the teachers and pupils allows us to get to know and understand the individual needs of each and every child.

Holmewood House is a co-educational, non-selective school for boys and girls aged 3-13 years, situated in 30 acres of glorious grounds in Tunbridge Wells.

What magic would your pebble have?
Year 2 have been exploring what makes poetry - its rhythm, structure, imagery, and sound. They have enjoyed listening to a range of poems, including the Magic Pebble by Roger McGough, and discussing how poets use language to get across meaning.
The children have been using their imaginations to think about what magic their own pebble could have and the ‘consequence’ of that magic. Working in pairs, they wrote down their ideas, which will then be used to compose their own poems using rhyme and sound patterns they have been studying.

The preparations for our TEDXRTW talks continue this term, leading up to the moment our Year 8 speakers step onto the stage at the Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells on 15th May. On Thursday, training with TEDX continued with a dynamic workshop entitled `Body, Voice and Presence`, exploring how to manage on-stage nerves, command the stage, and master the art of speaking clearly and enunciating effectively when using a microphone to address a large crowd. Holmewood House are proud to lead this initiative and yesterday welcomed partnering schools - The Skinners` School, St Gregory`s Catholic School, Heathfield and Skinners` Kent Academy - to join us for this training. All pupils gained valuable insight on the skill of presenting a speech. The Swim School holds classes for children of all abilities and is open to Holmewood pupils as well as the wider community and takes places after the Holmewood school day has finished and on a Saturday morning.
Holmewood House School has been running holiday courses since 1998. We aim to offer a wide variety of courses for children aged 5-12 in a secure and relaxed environment.

The chaperone service that Holmewood House offers has meant that our son has been able to access the best of both worlds, a country boarding school during the week where he can enjoy the space and facilities which are very hard to come by in London and then is able to come home every Friday to enjoy a full weekend with family. It is extremely convenient to be able to pick him up & drop off from central London & is workable on top of the other commitments I have! He looks forward to his trips on the train where he gets any unfinished homework done and then is able to relax at home
