A DAY & BOARDING PREP SCHOOL IN TUNBRIDGE WELLS, KENT
Holmewood House prep school in Tunbridge Wells is very much a family school where the positive relationships between the teachers and pupils allows us to get to know and understand the individual needs of each and every child.
We foster their talents and nurture their growth through a broad, balanced, challenging and exciting curriculum and, in doing so, create an environment whereby each child is provided with every opportunity to fulfil their potential. We believe that emotional and social well-being, self-esteem, happiness and confidence are of prime importance and are in themselves inextricably linked to academic progress.
Holmewood House is a co-educational, non-selective school for boys and girls aged 3-13 years, situated in 30 acres of glorious grounds in Tunbridge Wells.
The wonderful environment and outstanding facilities provide a strong framework upon which the ethos of ‘allowing children to be children can be achieved.

We are delighted to announce that The Creative Learning Hub is a finalist in the SLA 2025 Enterprise of the Year Award. The Award celebrates one-off or progressive projects which contribute towards reading and literacy in schools. But what is The Creative Learning Hub? Where can you browse books (in six different languages), relax and read (on a fluffy beanbag illuminated by fairy lights), make something (like a giant “scrumplicious” lollipop), create something (like a comforting poetry quilt), enjoy being (maybe cloud gazing), listen to stories (eating biscuits), go on a journey (maybe in your imagination or to Nigeria), play with friends (perhaps build a tower) and pat a dog. The Creative Learning Hub occupies a central space within the school and uses the library as a springboard for creative thinking and making. A diverse calendar of literary, cultural, social and well-being events take place throughout the year often involving the wider school community and curriculum areas. Something for everyone, the Creative Learning Hub enables all types of learners to engage, express themselves, contribute to the organisation of the space or simply chill and take time out. It has catalysed the pupils’ engagement with reading for pleasure as well as nurturing their creativity and emotional well-being. A huge well done to Creative Learning Leader, Catherine Duncumb who has created this special environment by drawing upon her professional experience of working in graphic design, museum education, and Art and design curriculum development. We can`t wait for the 6th November when the winners will be announced. #CreativeLearningHub #HolisticEducation #ChildLeadLearning #HolmewoodHouseSchool #TunbridgeWells

The Swim School holds classes for children of all abilities and is open to Holmewood pupils as well as the wider community and takes places after the Holmewood school day has finished and on a Saturday morning.
Holmewood House School has been running holiday courses since 1998. We aim to offer a wide variety of courses for children aged 5-12 in a secure and relaxed environment.
Holmewood House provides a broad, well-balanced curriculum with outstanding teachers in what is very much a family school where the positive relationships between the teachers and children allows staff to get to know and understand the individual needs of each and every child.
TESTIMONIALS WHAT OUR STUDENTS & PARENTS HAVE TO SAY
Parent
Just wanted to express our thanks for this term. What a year! We’ve been utterly impressed by HH’s approach and care. We feel very grateful to be at this school and for the wonderful start in life it has given our children.
Prospective Parent
We both through that the school was superb – in fact as we were driving off of the property, we remarked that it was faultless across the board. We both feel that our children would thrive at Holmewood.
Pupil
“I love having Mojo the PAT Dog in my classroom, he listens to me read.”
Parent
“Our son ia a typical boy – great at maths, loves sports, hates writing!! But one of the teachers spotted that it was more than this … he was assessed and has dyslexia. Contrary to what many people may think, both we and the school see this positively – with the support of the Learning Support team, he now has a greater chance of reaching his true academic potential. Already, as a result of typing rather than doing handwritten work, he has discovered a new found love of creative writing and huge confidence in comprehension.”
Pupil
“I like playing in the garden and growing flowers and vegetables.”
Pupil
“The amount of opportunities we are offered is incredible and the teachers are all very helpful and friendly.”
Parent
“Communication at Holmewood is very good and they offer a number of opportunities each term for parents to attend both educational and pastoral forums.”
Pupil
“Holmewood house is a very good school which helps pupils feel at home and can adapt to suit you. I enjoy maths the most because my teacher makes you try to do things for yourself and he is very supportive.”
Parent
“I feel privileged to send my children to a school where teachers care so much and are able to work in such small class sizes.”
Age 18
I do believe that all my successes in life so far stem from my years at Holmewood. As well as providing a brilliant academic base, the nurturing from the teachers is like nothing else, and I cannot thank you enough for that.
Parent
“Holmewood offers a unique education in a safe and supportive environment for children of all ages.”
Parent
The chaperone service that Holmewood House offers has meant that our son has been able to access the best of both worlds, a country boarding school during the week where he can enjoy the space and facilities which are very hard to come by in London and then is able to come home every Friday to enjoy a full weekend with family. It is extremely convenient to be able to pick him up & drop off from central London & is workable on top of the other commitments I have! He looks forward to his trips on the train where he gets any unfinished homework done and then is able to relax at home
