A DAY & BOARDING PREP SCHOOL IN TUNBRIDGE WELLS, KENT
Holmewood House prep school in Tunbridge Wells is very much a family school where the positive relationships between the teachers and pupils allows us to get to know and understand the individual needs of each and every child.
We foster their talents and nurture their growth through a broad, balanced, challenging and exciting curriculum and, in doing so, create an environment whereby each child is provided with every opportunity to fulfil their potential. We believe that emotional and social well-being, self-esteem, happiness and confidence are of prime importance and are in themselves inextricably linked to academic progress.
Holmewood House is a co-educational, non-selective school for boys and girls aged 3-13 years, situated in 30 acres of glorious grounds in Tunbridge Wells.
The wonderful environment and outstanding facilities provide a strong framework upon which the ethos of ‘allowing children to be children can be achieved.
A huge congratulations to Aleksey, Charlie, Winter and Ellie, who represented Holmewood House at the @iapsuksport National Swimming Finals at the London Aquatics Centre. All four swimmers performed exceptionally well against some of the strongest competition in the country. Qualifying for this event is a tremendous achievement, with only the top 20 swimmers in each event progressing from the regional heats. • Aleksey qualified 5th for the final and finished 6th overall gaining two PBs along the way • Winter smashed her PB by over a second, finishing 15th overall • Ellie swam brilliantly in the 50m Butterfly to take an impressive 12th place overall. She narrowly missed out on a place in the final by just a few tenths of a second • Charlie competed in the 50m Butterfly, also securing an excellent 12th place finish overall and PB A special thank you to Mrs Bradbury and Ms Bowman for supporting our swimmers throughout the weekend. A huge well done to all four swimmers for their dedication, hard work, and fantastic performances. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved. #Swimming #SwimmingFinals #IAPSSwimming2026 #SwimmingSuccess #HolmewoodHouse

Our Year 7 Geographers had a great field trip to Birling Gap and, despite the weather conspiring against them, were able to fully explore this beautiful coastline. The focus of the trip was on river and coastal features, the processes that shape them, and how these landscapes can be managed. The spectacular views over the Cuckmere River and its floodplain were an ideal way to see these processes in panorama. At the beach they investigated evidence of coastal erosion, took on a stone-stacking challenge and searched for the roundest, smallest, and smoothest pebbles as evidence of attrition, one of the key coastal processes studied this term. #Year7 #SussexCoast #Cuckmerehaven #GeographyTrip #HolmewoodHouseSchool

The Swim School holds classes for children of all abilities and is open to Holmewood pupils as well as the wider community and takes places after the Holmewood school day has finished and on a Saturday morning.
Holmewood House School has been running holiday courses since 1998. We aim to offer a wide variety of courses for children aged 5-12 in a secure and relaxed environment.
Holmewood House provides a broad, well-balanced curriculum with outstanding teachers in what is very much a family school where the positive relationships between the teachers and children allows staff to get to know and understand the individual needs of each and every child.
TESTIMONIALS WHAT OUR STUDENTS & PARENTS HAVE TO SAY
Parent
Just wanted to express our thanks for this term. What a year! We’ve been utterly impressed by HH’s approach and care. We feel very grateful to be at this school and for the wonderful start in life it has given our children.
Prospective Parent
We both through that the school was superb – in fact as we were driving off of the property, we remarked that it was faultless across the board. We both feel that our children would thrive at Holmewood.
Pupil
“Thank you for your ongoing efforts in making Holmewood such a safe and nurturing place to grow, take risks, make mistakes and be curious, where the children are well known by their teachers and your team to help them navigate their course to growing confidence, leadership and empathy for helping others”.
Parent
“Our son ia a typical boy – great at maths, loves sports, hates writing!! But one of the teachers spotted that it was more than this … he was assessed and has dyslexia. Contrary to what many people may think, both we and the school see this positively – with the support of the Learning Support team, he now has a greater chance of reaching his true academic potential. Already, as a result of typing rather than doing handwritten work, he has discovered a new found love of creative writing and huge confidence in comprehension.”
Pupil
“I like playing in the garden and growing flowers and vegetables.”
Pupil
“The amount of opportunities we are offered is incredible and the teachers are all very helpful and friendly.”
Parent
“Communication at Holmewood is very good and they offer a number of opportunities each term for parents to attend both educational and pastoral forums.”
Pupil
“Holmewood house is a very good school which helps pupils feel at home and can adapt to suit you. I enjoy maths the most because my teacher makes you try to do things for yourself and he is very supportive.”
Parent
“I feel privileged to send my children to a school where teachers care so much and are able to work in such small class sizes.”
Age 18
I do believe that all my successes in life so far stem from my years at Holmewood. As well as providing a brilliant academic base, the nurturing from the teachers is like nothing else, and I cannot thank you enough for that.
Parent
“Holmewood offers a unique education in a safe and supportive environment for children of all ages.”
Parent
The chaperone service that Holmewood House offers has meant that our son has been able to access the best of both worlds, a country boarding school during the week where he can enjoy the space and facilities which are very hard to come by in London and then is able to come home every Friday to enjoy a full weekend with family. It is extremely convenient to be able to pick him up & drop off from central London & is workable on top of the other commitments I have! He looks forward to his trips on the train where he gets any unfinished homework done and then is able to relax at home
