Holmewood House prep school in Tunbridge Wells is very much a family school where the positive relationships between the teachers and pupils allows us to get to know and understand the individual needs of each and every child.
We foster their talents and nurture their growth through a broad, balanced, challenging and exciting curriculum and, in doing so, create an environment whereby each child is provided with every opportunity to fulfil their potential. We believe that emotional and social well-being, self-esteem, happiness and confidence are of prime importance and are in themselves inextricably linked to academic progress.
Holmewood House is a co-educational, non-selective school for boys and girls aged 3-13 years, situated in 30 acres of glorious grounds in Tunbridge Wells.
The wonderful environment and outstanding facilities provide a strong framework upon which the ethos of ‘allowing children to be children can be achieved.

Thank you so much to the amazing Friends of Holmewood for all their hard work organising the Family Fun Day!
The children had a brilliant time, bouncing and sliding around on the inflatables spread across the South Lawn. Definitely the highlight was seeing members of staff in the stocks....they looked decidedly nervous at the proximity of the throwers at times! Thank you to Mrs O’Sullivan, Mr Steele, Mr Jervis, Mr Gurran, Mr Wukics and Mr Gray for being such great sports.
A huge thank you to all the fabulous parent volunteers who supported the event. These events simply can’t run without you, so thanks to everyone who gave up their time to help. And thanks to the wonderful suppliers for their hard work.
Events like this not only bring the Holmewood community together, they also help raise funds for local charity Taylor-Made Dreams, and investments in school projects adding value to the lives of the children throughout the school.

It was such a pleasure to meet so many new families who came to explore our school. The excitement, enthusiasm and interest throughout the morning was truly wonderful and we have already received fantastic feedback from visitors, including this lovely comment: “Holmewood House is just incredible. We were absolutely blown away by everything on offer here.”
It was especially special to welcome an Old Holmewoodian among our visitors, as well as within our parent tour team. It is a real testament to the strength of our community that so many families return to us.
A huge thank you to our parent and Year 7 tour guides, and especially to Year 7 Amaia for her heartfelt speech about her journey at ‘magical’ Holmewood. We have already received several emails praising what a brilliant job they did and what a credit they are to the school.
Thank you also to our wonderful teaching staff who speak so passionately about their subjects, and to our grounds team for the incredible work they do to keep our school looking so beautiful.

Personal Enrichment: The Oracy Project Congratulations to our Year 8s who presented their projects to peers, staff and parents this week. Each pupil created a unique research question and embarked on a journey of independent inquiry, developing real expertise in a subject they are passionate about. The range of topics was both impressive and diverse, ranging from The Truth about Smart Phones to Space to Spam! During the showcase, pupils stood alongside their displays, discussing their work with their visitors who then voted for the most inspirational and engaging presentations. Awards will be announced in assembly soon. Year 8 pupils chose either to present their board at this event, or deliver a talk as part of TEDxRTW. The Swim School holds classes for children of all abilities and is open to Holmewood pupils as well as the wider community and takes places after the Holmewood school day has finished and on a Saturday morning.
Holmewood House School has been running holiday courses since 1998. We aim to offer a wide variety of courses for children aged 5-12 in a secure and relaxed environment.

The chaperone service that Holmewood House offers has meant that our son has been able to access the best of both worlds, a country boarding school during the week where he can enjoy the space and facilities which are very hard to come by in London and then is able to come home every Friday to enjoy a full weekend with family. It is extremely convenient to be able to pick him up & drop off from central London & is workable on top of the other commitments I have! He looks forward to his trips on the train where he gets any unfinished homework done and then is able to relax at home
