Entry
Requirements

Pre-Nursery and Nursery

We welcome new pupils into Nursery throughout the school year, places permitting. Children can join the Pre-Nursery from the term in which they turn three years old. Nursery children are invited to come into Holmewood for a taster session with their parents before starting with us.

Pre-Prep Department

All children are invited to come into Holmewood for a taster session before starting with us. We get to know the children and their families very well, to ease the transition to a new school.

We invite all children entering Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to attend a taster day –  and we request a school report and a reference from their previous school.

Prep Department

Prep

We welcome new pupils into years 3-8 throughout the school academic year, subject to place availability.

Once your child(ren) is registered for entry, we invite them to attend a taster day, where they  can enjoy a day at Holmewood with their peer group. In addition, children sit a computer-based assessment and they meet the Deputy Head over refreshments.  These visits help us get to know your child pastorally and academically, and provides important information for setting purposes.

We request a copy of the latest school report for your child/children and a reference is requested from their previous school. Once a place is offered,  return of the online acceptance form with the deposit will secure the place.

FAQs

What is your Admissions process?

We would always suggest visiting the school before applying for a place for your child. Applications are made through our online registration portal and should be accompanied by a photo of your child, a copy of their passport (or birth certificate) and, for Year 1 entry and above, their latest school report. There is a registration fee to pay. On receipt, we will invite your child for a taster day (or taster stay if it is a boarding application), for an interview, and to sit a CAT4 test. We will ask their current school for a reference.

Can my child join mid-year?

Yes, we welcome children throughout the year. Usually, at the start of term or after the half-term holidays.

How do I arrange a visit?

Please contact the Admissions Office by phone on 01892 860006 or by emailing admissions@holmewoodhouse.co.uk. For Year 1 entry and above, you can simply click here to book a private tour.

Can my child come for a taster day?

Absolutely, this is a very important part of our admissions process. Once registered for entry, prospective pupils will be invited to spend a day in school with their peers.

What is a CAT4 test?

A CAT4 test is an online assessment of your child’s ability across the areas of verbal, non-verbal, quantitative and spatial reasoning. The results provide a picture of your child’s strengths and the areas in which they may need extra support. The test is not an entrance exam that can be passed or failed.
