Athletics Success

Holmewood House enjoyed a very positive afternoon of athletics at DPS Cranbrook, competing against a number of teams from across the county in sprint, middle-distance and relay events.

There were some excellent individual performances, including first-place finishes for Oli O’G in the 75m and Aaron in both the 100m and 200m, as well as strong podium finishes from Albert, Fiyi, Jago, George, Henry M, Clemmie and Jonny. Many pupils showed real determination, with several close finishes across the afternoon.

The Year 5 and 6 pupils also adapted well to the revised sprint distances, running 75m and 150m rather than the more familiar 100m and 200m. These distances align with the updated age-group guidance now being used more widely in prep school athletics and England Athletics development pathways for younger athletes.

The relay teams also performed well, with a number of 2nd and 3rd place finishes across the year groups.

Overall, it was a brilliant team effort, with pupils showing great commitment, resilience and support for one another throughout the meet. Well done to everyone involved. Alex Gurran
