At Holmewood House School, we nurture the whole child through a holistic education that includes sports, music, drama, design and technology, engineering, clubs, trips, and critical thinking. This approach helps our pupils develop diverse skills and passions for a successful future.
Our Year 8s travelled to Bannau Brycheiniog, the Brecon Beacons National Park, for their Leavers’ Residential Trip. It was an action-packed week filled with exciting activities and a wonderful celebration of our leavers, who have worked so hard throughout the year in their many leadership roles and responsibilities.
The programme included a wide range of outdoor pursuits, including climbing, caving, bouldering, horse riding, archery and hiking.
The children were outstanding throughout the trip, embracing every challenge with enthusiasm and making the most of every opportunity. They will take home many wonderful memories from the week, not only from the activities, but from the friendships, laughter and shared experiences with their friends that made the trip so special.

A fantastic DT Scholars` Workshop with visiting speaker Spike Walsgrove
Spike, a specialist in retro-tech modification and a studio electrical engineer, led an engaging session for Year 7 and our incoming Year 6 scholars. Pupils designed and built their own arcade-style game pads using Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller boards, each creating a unique design.
The workshop was filled with creativity and excitement, culminating in the children testing their controllers with retro games on the DT interactive board.
A big thank you to Spike for lending his expertise and making the day so enjoyable.
