Year 4 Enrichment

This week Year 4 created their river for their book based on The Tree and the River by Aaron Becker. They had to work together to ensure the individual sections met up so the river (story) flows. They looked at how and to what effect, the illustrator uses colour, light and the changing seasons. They then selected colours for the five sections of their storyline and made rubbings of different textures to create the background for their story pages. Catherine Duncumb

Pupil Librarians

Senior librarians George, Alicia, Delilah, Lottie and Sofia shared their recommended reads with Years 7 and 8 during reading for pleasure time on Tuesday morning. Their brief was to introduce pupils to material they might not be aware of in the library. “It was good to see people trying books I like reading.” Catherine Duncumb

Caribbean Day

Pupils enjoyed a vibrant taste of the Caribbean on Wednesday, led by our Global Ambassadors: Pelumi and Joshua in Year 8, and Annabelle in Year 6.

Break time brought a burst of colour and creativity to the Learning Hub, with a range of lively activities. Annabelle shared her knowledge of Barbados and designed an exciting quiz about the island for all pupils to test their knowledge. Pupils also got stuck into carnival mask-making, island beach-building, designing a

Caribbean flag, and a lively game of scuba diving “hook a fish out of the Caribbean Sea.” A brilliant day all round and thank you to all involved for making the day so enjoyable.
