Holmewood House offers an enriching programme of trips throughout the year, designed to enhance learning and create unforgettable experiences.
Recent examples include:
Year 5 had a fantastic visit to Eastbourne to see The Boy at the Back of the Class - a brilliant, thought-provoking play, and the children were an amazing audience. They also loved exploring the Ravilious and Turner exhibitions at the Towner Gallery. With Mr Johnson`s booklet in hand, they carefully studied textures in Ravilious` work and created soft pencil shades inspired by Turner.
Reception had a fantastic trip to Drusilla`s Zoo to round off their animals topic for the term. They saw the animals they`ve been learning about up close, discovered amazing facts, watched the penguins being fed, and even enjoyed a train ride around the zoo. A wonderful time was had by all!
Year 1 spent an inspiring day at Wilderness Wood, fully immersed in the wonders of the forest. They tried leaf printing by hammering on to fabric to print the colour of the plant; worked brilliantly in teams to build imaginative dens among the trees, and sculpted woodland creatures from clay, taking inspiration from their surroundings.

Congratulations to Music Scholar, Alicia, on being awarded an All Rounder Scholarship with Music to Battle Abbey, and a Music Scholarship to Mayfield School!
"It has been fantastic to watch Alicia emerge as a confident and passionate young musician over the past 2 years and to go on to gain music scholarships at Battle Abbey and Mayfield School. Alicia wowed both Directors of Music with her musicality on both the violin and the piano and clearly has a bright future ahead of her" - Mrs Carter, Head of Music.
