The Sally Walton Hockey Academy24th - 27th July, 2018
Before embarking on a career as an international hockey player, keen Chelsea supporter Sally Walton played football for Aston Villa Ladies. Having made her international debut in 2005, Sally, from Solihull, made her Olympic debut during London 2012. In recent years, she has been a regular member of the England and Great Britain squads that have won medals at every major championship. At the 2009 EuroHockey Nations Championships, she donned the goalkeeping pads – and made several key saves – in a match against the Netherlands after goalkeeper Beth Storry dislocated her shoulder with England’s reserve goalkeeper not listed among the substitutes. Sally was the 100th athlete to be selected to Team GB by the British Olympic Association for the London Olympic Games. Following the success of the Easter programme, this will be Sally’s second academy at Holmewood House.
