Once the children have completed their time following the Early Years curriculum, they move into Year 1 and then into Year 2. Their six classes are housed in the Pre-Prep building, which is almost like a separate school. This ensures our young children remain within a cosy and secure environment, but are able to take full advantage of the splendid Prep School facilities and school grounds.
Children progress at their optimum pace in mixed ability classes. Frequent, standardized and teacher assessments enable progress to be carefully monitored and reported to parents. The Learning Support department and the class teacher are, therefore, able to identify and support those who may need extra help. Regular contact between teachers and parents is encouraged and formal meetings are held annually. Parental involvement is warmly welcomed in the class, particularly during afternoon activities.
All our classrooms are equipped with interactive white boards and a Pre-Prep computer room ensures ICT lessons take place from Reception.
Our children are encouraged to develop their talents through a broad and varied curriculum. In Literacy and Numeracy, Science, Art, Design Technology, Music and French, children have fun whilst learning and gaining confidence in themselves, guided by specialist teaching staff and classroom assistants.
