Every child is a member of a House. The six Houses are Ash, Beech, Cedar, Cob, Oak and Yew. There is a Housemaster/mistress for each House. Boys and girls are assigned to a House according to numbers in each age group. Siblings are allocated to the same house. Children of Old Holmewoodians can be assigned to their father’s or mother’s old House.
The House colours are as follows:
- Ash – purple
- Beech – yellow
- Cedar – green
- Cob – dark blue
- Oak – light blue
- Yew – red
A House meeting is held before the start of lessons each Tuesday morning. There are various House competitions, sporting and academic, junior and senior, throughout the school year. Red stars House points) collected by the children go towards totals for their House.
