SE Region Gymnastics success

Holmewood hosted a record entry for the SE region individual gymnastics championships on Sunday. Almost 200 gymnasts between years 1-6 competed throughout the day. Our 32 gymnasts had a spectacular day coming away with 23 awards which included 8 regional champions, our best ever performance in this BSGA Competition.

Our Pre-Prep gymnasts had enormous success. We entered 4 girls in the year 1 class and they won the top four places. Phoebe became champion, Georgie won the silver medal, Uzezi the bronze and Kiki the fourth place ribbon. Impressive!

In the year 2 section Lucas became the boys' champion and Natty was placed 5th. The Year 2 girls also flew the Holmewood flag: Thea gold, Aurora silver, Layla bronze. Ribbon winners were Sofia 4th, Lucie 5th and Xin 6th.

In Year 3 Luna won gold with a spectacular vault score of 9.5, our highest mark of the day and Aurelia came 4th. In Year 4 Miya and Oreva took joint gold and Niamh won the 6th place ribbon in a huge class. Oliver won gold in the year 4 boys class. In Year 5 Alice won the silver medal and Harriet became the Year 6 regional champion with Evelyn winning the bronze medal. Cecily and Madeleine entered a different section because they also train out of school winning the gold and silver medals.

All of our gymnasts performed very well and decisions were very close. Enormous thanks to our parents who worked so hard throughout the day ensuring the day ran smoothly.
