1st XI vs St Andrew’s Prep, Eastbourne

The 1st XI battled hard against a skilful and fast St Andrew’s side in what turned out to be a thrilling contest. Although the hosts controlled large spells of possession with slick passing and quick transitions, Holmewood’s determination and defensive resilience kept them in the game throughout. St Andrew’s took the lead after ten minutes, but Holmewood responded in style when Tom struck a long-range free kick into the bottom corner to level the score. Just before the interval, St Andrew’s regained the advantage with a sharp finish.

After adjusting formation at half-time to regain control in midfield, Holmewood began to trouble the St Andrew’s defence. Ralph’s dangerous set pieces caused problems, and with just minutes remaining, his pinpoint corner was met perfectly by Joel, whose powerful header found the net to secure a 2–2 draw. It was a tough, hard-fought match and a brilliant example of the boys’ resilience and team spirit.

2nd XI vs St Andrew’s Prep, Eastbourne

The 2nd XI played out an entertaining and end-to-end match against a lively St Andrew’s side. The first half saw both teams create plenty of chances, and by the break, the score stood at 3–2 to St Andrew’s, with Holmewood’s goals coming from Jonathan and Joshua after some excellent link-up play. Early in the second half, Arlo equalised with a speculative shot from distance to make it 3–3, giving Holmewood hope of taking control. However, as the game opened up, St Andrew’s took their chances well, scoring three late goals to win 6–3. Despite the defeat, it was an encouraging attacking display from the boys, who showed great energy and commitment throughout.

4th XI vs St Andrew’s Prep, Eastbourne

The 4th XI travelled to St Andrew’s and started strongly, using the slope to their advantage. Holmewood controlled possession early on and created several good chances, with Tadiwa linking up brilliantly from midfield and eventually scoring with a composed finish to put his side ahead. Despite continued pressure, St Andrew’s equalised just before half-time.

In the second half, Holmewood found the uphill challenge difficult and a few defensive lapses allowed the hosts to edge in front. The boys rallied superbly, with Derek playing a clever ball down the line to Tadiwa, who drove into the box and finished clinically to make it 2–2. Holmewood almost retook the lead moments later but were denied by a scrambling save. As the clock ticked down, St Andrew’s took advantage of a long clearance and scored a late winner from distance. Although the match finished 3–2, it was a fantastic, competitive game that could easily have gone either way.

U11A vs The Mead School

The U11A team showed huge determination and fighting spirit to earn a thrilling 3–3 draw against a talented Mead side. After falling 2–0 behind to two sharp finishes, Holmewood pulled one back before half-time through a well-worked team move. The Mead restored their two-goal cushion after the break, but Holmewood refused to give up, combining excellent passing with strong running to score twice and level the match at 3–3. Both sides pushed hard for a late winner, but the game ended honours even — a great display of character, teamwork, and perseverance from the Holmewood boys.

U11B vs St Andrew’s Prep, Eastbourne

The U11B team faced a strong St Andrew’s Colts A side in a close and competitive encounter. Featuring several U10 players stepping up a year, Holmewood adapted well to the challenge and showed real composure under pressure. St Andrew’s took the lead with a superb strike from distance, before Holmewood enjoyed their best spell of the game, creating several good chances but just unable to find the finishing touch. Late in the second half, confusion in the box allowed St Andrew’s to double their lead and seal a 2–0 victory. Despite the result, Holmewood can be proud of their resilience and teamwork — the younger players integrated superbly, and the team’s attitude throughout was excellent.

U11C vs The Mead School

The U11C team produced one of the standout performances of the week with a convincing 6–2 win over The Mead. Holmewood started strongly, passing the ball with confidence and creativity. Henry scored a brilliant hat-trick, while Zachary added two well-taken goals and Noah completed the scoring late on. William was outstanding in midfield, dictating play and providing several key assists, while Oliver made a string of confident saves in goal. It was a complete team performance — full of energy, teamwork, and skill — and a thoroughly deserved victory.

U10A vs The Mead School

The U10A team hosted a strong and physical Colts B side from The Mead and came away with a thrilling 3–2 victory. Both teams played fast, attacking football, showing great pace and precision in their passing. Charlie opened the scoring with a tidy finish from a cross, while Calli scored twice with exceptional long-range strikes. The Mead fought back well, scoring two of their own, but Holmewood’s determination and composure under pressure saw them hold firm for a memorable win. A brilliant performance full of attacking flair and teamwork.

U10B vs St Andrew’s Prep, Eastbourne

The U10B team faced a tough challenge at home against St Andrew’s Colts B side. Featuring several C team players, Holmewood were up against an older and more physically imposing team but approached the game with great effort and courage. George was outstanding in goal, producing a series of fine saves to deny the visitors on numerous occasions. Although the match was one-sided, the boys’ resilience and sportsmanship were outstanding — a performance full of character and learning.

U10C vs St Andrew’s Prep, Eastbourne

The U10C team travelled to St Andrew’s and played with enthusiasm and confidence in an open, high-scoring match. Holmewood showed clear improvement in their control and teamwork, finishing their chances well to claim a deserved win. It was an enjoyable afternoon of football and a performance full of promise for the weeks ahead.

U9 vs Lingfield College Prep

It was a fantastic day of football for the U9s, with all three teams showing great energy, teamwork, and enthusiasm. The A team narrowly lost 5–4 in a thrilling encounter that could have gone either way, while the B team drew 2–2 after an evenly matched game full of end-to-end play. The C team impressed with a 4–1 victory, controlling the game through strong passing and movement. Across all three matches, the boys played with spirit, positivity, and outstanding sportsmanship — a brilliant set of performances.
