U13A vs Windlesham House School
The U13A team faced a challenging fixture away at Windlesham House, playing against a confident side that demonstrated strong running and impressive handling skills. Despite missing a few key players, our team showed resilience and determination throughout the match.
Windlesham’s ability to retain possession and move the ball effectively kept us under consistent pressure, particularly in the contact zones, where we struggled to gain and maintain a strong platform for our attack. While the result didn’t go our way, the boys displayed grit and a commendable attitude against tough opposition.
There were still plenty of positives to take from the game, including valuable lessons about adapting to different styles of play and working as a unit under pressure. The match was well-managed, and the boys gained crucial experience that will undoubtedly contribute to their growth and development as players.
We’ll take these learnings into training as we prepare for our upcoming fixtures in the New Year, starting with a triangular against Somerhill and Hazelwood at Holmewood House.
U12A vs Hilden Grange & Windlesham House School
The first match of a triangular for today and a tough old game to start off with. Hilden had exceptional tackling which meant we just couldn’t get a line break despite some good attacking moves. A great first try of the season from Odi was a particular highlight.
A very stop start game to finish off the triangular matches today and the result could have gone anyone’s way. The team left everything on the pitch today and although they will be disappointed with the results, Mr Mac and I could not have been more pleased with their performance. The way they played today has been the best the team has collectively performed all season.
U13/12 Touch Rugby Match vs Windlesham House
The U13/12 combined touch rugby team traveled away to Windlesham House and returned with a well-earned victory. The team demonstrated excellent ball retention and showcased their ability to execute their game plan under pressure.
Taking full advantage of the wide pitch, the players displayed great vision and teamwork, frequently spreading the ball wide to create opportunities and score in the corners. Their disciplined approach and commitment to moving the ball quickly kept the opposition on the back foot and allowed us to capitalise on space effectively.
A fantastic effort from the entire squad—congratulations on a well-deserved win! We look forward to building on this momentum in the New Year.
U11A vs Hilden Grange & Windlesham House School
The Colts A team had a triangular match v Hilden Grange and Windlesham House.
The first match was against an incredibly powerful Hilden Grange side that were all club rugby players from the same club. They also had not lost a match for two years, a daunting prospect!
There was nothing to worry about because although we lost 5-15, we gave them a run for their money!
The second match was a potential banana skin against Windlesham, However the boys rallied themselves to win by a convincing 30-0.
This has been a cracking start to the season and very well played boys!
U11B vs Hilden Grange & Windlesham House School
What a stunning way to round off the rugby for this term, with a triangular against two strong rugby playing schools – Hilden Grange from our local area and Windlesham House, from the depths of across the border, in West Sussex!
In the first match, it was Hilden Grange against Holmewood House and what a thriller it was – end to end, try saving tackles, off loads and great handling despite the muddy conditions. This was a serious game of rugby and a wonderful standard for under 11’s and a great spectacle for all who gathered to watch. Hilden Grange just edging the first but what would happen in the second half. Well, Holmewood came right back into it, with two fantastically worked tries. But the final score ended Holmewood House 25 – Hilden Grange 30. What an epic tussle. Holmewood then has a 20 minute break, whilst Hilden Grange played Windlesham House. Then it was the final match of Holmewood House v Windlesham House, which due to some strong tackling, straight running, rucking and contesting well for the ball in the scrums, Holmewood Won 30 points to 5. Another tremendous game. Boys – I am so proud of each and every one of you who played. Just time for two more training sessions, before the term closes and then it is straight back in to matches on our return. Wel played boys and keep enjoying your rugby. My grateful thanks go to Mr Bennett who refereed all three matches. P Morgan-Jones
